What is neuromuscular reeducation?
Neuromuscular reeducation retrains the signalling between nerve and muscle that controls how you move. After an injury the body adopts protective patterns that persist long after the tissue heals. This work restores correct timing, balance and body awareness so the right muscles fire at the right moment without conscious thought.
Neuromuscular reeducation is a vital component of chiropractic care that focuses on retraining the relationship between the nervous system and musculoskeletal system, and how that relationship affects overall health and wellness. At our chiropractic practice, we offer personalized and effective neuromuscular reeducation programs to help patients achieve optimal health and wellness.
During a neuromuscular reeducation session, our experienced chiropractors will work with you to develop a personalized plan that is tailored to your specific needs and goals. We will take into account your medical history, symptoms, and other factors to ensure that you receive the most effective care possible.
Neuromuscular reeducation can help patients better understand how the nervous system and musculoskeletal system work together to support overall health and wellness. By improving awareness of how the body functions, patients can better understand how to prevent injury and maintain optimal health and wellness.
At our practice, we offer a range of neuromuscular reeducation options, including exercises and stretches designed to improve posture, balance, and body awareness. Our experienced chiropractors will work with you to develop a program that is designed to help you achieve your goals and improve your overall health and well-being.
Neuromuscular reeducation is a safe and effective treatment option for many patients. It is a non-invasive and drug-free approach to treating musculoskeletal conditions, which means that it carries very little risk of side effects. Additionally, it has been shown to be effective for many patients, with studies indicating that it can help improve body awareness and reduce the risk of injury.

Common questions
How is it different from ordinary strength training?
Strength training builds capacity. Neuromuscular reeducation changes control. You can be strong and still move badly, so the focus here is timing, balance and awareness rather than load.
What happens during a session?
Usually balance work, movements performed slowly with close attention to how they feel, and drills that challenge stability in a controlled way. Much of it looks unremarkable from the outside and is demanding to do correctly.
How does it help prevent injuries coming back?
Most recurring injuries are a movement problem rather than a tissue problem. If the pattern that overloaded a joint is still there once the pain settles, the injury tends to return. Changing the pattern is what breaks that cycle.
